The Sangeet Niketan, Delhi, is one of the oldest prestigious institutions of dance & music in Delhi. It began teaching Hindustani Musicand various forms of Dances and Instruments at a time when institutional teaching of these were not much in vogue. I am happy to learn that it is celebrating its 20th Annual Convocation on 1st March, 1970.

Further I wish the institution and the members who have worked for this institution all success in their endeavors.

Sangeet Niketan was established by Shri Gulab Raiji on 1st January, 1950. In 1952, it was recognized as a Public Society, Subsequently, it got affiliated to Central India’s Education Department and Sangeet Niketan Natak Academy, New Delhi.

In 1958, Sangeet Niketan got affiliated to Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya. Khairagarh, Madhya Pradesh and it was from those times to the present time, Sangeet Niketan has been conducting Diploma and Degree Examinations of the University. All these examinations are recognized by the Central Government and The State Governments.

Sangeet Niketan has been imparting higher education in the field of Vocal, Instrumental Music and various Dance Styles such as Kathak, Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Bollywood Dance and other contemporary form of dances. Over 15,000 students have passed from this institution. Over 1,200 students have been awarded Diplomas and Degrees. Some students have also been listed in the merit list of the University who have a 100% pass percentage and many of them have secured distinctions in various subjects. The Institution has twelve qualified teachers and Shri Chakravarty Ram Mohan Rai, the present Principal is an eminentAkashwani Artiste. We have a Library comprising of over 2,500 books in Hindi, English and Sanskrit relating to Vocal, Instrument Music and Dances.

We have branches in East Delhi and South Delhi. Sangeet Niketan is the only Institution which is a Chartered University Affiliated College for Classical Music and Dances in the State of Delhi. We impart education of Music in a systematic manner. We expect Delhi Government to support us like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and other State Governments. We also request citizens of Delhi to take advantage of the facilities provided by the Institution and promote Indian culture.
