The Sangeet Niketan, Delhi, is one of the oldest prestigious institutions of dance & music in Delhi. It began teaching Hindustani Musicand various forms of Dances and Instruments at a time when institutional teaching of these were not much in vogue. I am happy to learn that it is celebrating its 20th Annual Convocation on 1st March, 1970.

Further I wish the institution and the members who have worked for this institution all success in their endeavors.

Shri Gulab Rai (1915 - 1991 ), S/o. Shri Balram Das

Shri Gulab Rai laid the foundation of this Institution in 1950. He initiated and introduced the institutional form of learning music in the times when music was the monopoly of a few 'Gharanas'.

Shri Gulab Raiji was an eminent Artiste of Jal-Tarang. He played the Instrument for Akashwani, Delhi for thirty years and promoted the music of India in India and abroad. He performed Jal-Tarang programmes in many countries.

Shri Gulab Raiji was a freedom fighter and played important role in freedom struggle of India. In 1942 along with Dr. Yudhveer Singh. Shri Radha Raman and Shri Desraj Chowdhary, he used revolutionary methods and underground activities to attain Independence for the country.

Business Estate Established by him are recognized 'Export Houses'. They are also functional and flourishing under the guidelines and principles laid down by him for over fifty eight years.
